I know Halloween is thankfully behind us but this caught my eye yesterday when looking for remains of the Capuchin Convent at Tervuren. Fungi really do seem to colonise, making dead stumps their place, their domain: this particular Beech stump may have been taken over by the Sheathed Woodtuft, 𝐾𝑢𝑒ℎ𝑛𝑒𝑟𝑜𝑚𝑦𝑐𝑒𝑠 𝑚𝑢𝑡𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑠, regarded as edible.

However, it is very easily confused, certainly by the enthusiast, with the Funeral Bell. Aptly named that one.
