I wasn’t expecting anything untoward, surprising as I neared my destination, the centre of the Forest. There is a landmark close by which I wrote about last April. A foresters’ hut, possibly used by scouts, possibly rented out for picnics, but certainly disused.

I started to doubt myself, it was always visible through the trees as Sneppenweg approached. Where was it?
I turned down Snipe Path and, quite simply, it was no longer, removed, erased.

The Sequoia remained. It was good to be close, to feel the bark, the age.
