On January 3rd I wrote about a bouquet jubilaire planted in 1905 at the junction of Verdunningsdreef and Avenue Francus to mark the 75th anniversary of the Belgian state. It was a stand of oaks, a few of which survive to this day.
Whilst investigating a path that no longer exists, I noticed on the map another such planting at the opposite end of the same Drève des Éclaircies, where it met the Chaussée de Mont-St-Jean, now the Ring.

This time it was beech, planted in the same year. The ones marked in blue are very probably of that vintage.
The two principal trees of the forest, set as bouquets jubilaires at either end of a drève named for timber extraction.
Placed at junctions where they would once have been highly visible.
Now, unnoticed.
