I was out in the Forest yesterday with two much younger friends and my, what sharp eyes they have, zooming in on microscopic (to me) fungi. I couldnโt fail to notice this one though. The older of the two said โit looks like breadโ, which made me smile.

I really am not great at identifying fungi and anyway, their botanical names are shifting sand. Still, this was certainly a bolete of some description: see the spongy gills, a dead giveaway. Which one? Iโll go no further than ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ข๐ sp., possibly the Matt Bolete.
One of the prized boletes for the table is the ๐๐ฬ๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ต๐๐๐๐๐๐ข๐ฅ which in English it is called the Penny Bun. My young friend could become a mycologist of note.
