Come on, tell me! Why do people kick over fungi? Do they think they are saving us from ourselves, that otherwise we would consume toxic and possibly fatal varieties? Are they fungaphobes, hell-bent on eradication?
I’m sorry to tell you that you don’t understand fungi.
I would have loved to have seen this standing majestic by the path in the Forest, but all I saw was a decapitated fungus, stalk separated lying forlorn, and, key to its identification, white latex-like sap on the floor.

This, my friends, is a Milkcap, probably 𝐿𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑙𝑢𝑢𝑠 𝑝𝑖𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑢𝑠. It’s not poisonous, but, trust me, unless you like a peppery taste so strong it will set your mouth on fire, do not try it.
